Fling It at Your Google Thingamajig

Google Cast yeets lyrics from the OnSong® app straight to your TV or projector over Wi-Fi, courtesy of a Chromecast, Google TV, or literally any display that has Google Cast baked in. No janky capture box. No HDMI cables snaking across the room like spaghetti. No second computer sweating in the corner. Nope — the receiver joins your network, and OnSong® runs the whole show from the stage (or wherever you're hidin').

What everybody sees? Your song. Your picked-out background image or motion background, your styling swag, and the actual words to the tune you're currently butcherin'. Since the receiver loads a page straight from OnSong® itself, the projection keeps pace live as you dance through sections & switch songs.

The Bleepin' Video Hookup

The Google Cast button chills in the External Video Dungeon, sittin' next to all the other projection doodads. Crack it open from the menubar & boom — Google Cast logo flexes in the toolbar. The cast glyph glows up in your accent color while you're actually live, so you can tell at a glance if the display is rollin' or totally ghosted.

The button only shows up on devices that actually support Google Cast, so RIP macOS OnSong® users — y'all are out of luck.

The Boring Reality Check

  • OnSong® Premium Subscription — yep, you gotta pay to play lyrics on a big screen, lol. Also need Scenes & Live Video backgrounds to work their magic.
  • Chromecast, Google TV, or a Cast-Ready Display — or literally a web browser on the network if you're feelin' adventurous & hacky.
  • Same Bleepin' Wi-Fi Network for both your iPad & the Google Cast receiver. OnSong® serves the projection straight from your device over local network magic, so they gotta actually see each other. Guest networks & bougie venue networks that block devices from talkin' are why your receiver goes full ghost mode.
  • Local Network Access has gotta be enabled for OnSong®. Your OS should annoy you about it the first time around, or just flip it on in the OnSong Settings Hellhole.

If the display goes full void or stops keepin' up with your song, it's the network that ghosted y'all, not the app — the receiver is loadin' a page from your device, not streamin' from Google's servers or whatever. Hit Google Cast again & it re-serves the page. On a weird network? Cast to a browser on a laptop first to suss out whether the network can even handle it. Science.
