Seeing Sounds Like a Weirdo

Color is how we see the world, so obvi color can help us understand complicated music stuff. Some musicians are basically synesthetes & can see colors when they hear notes or chords (lucky peeps). OnSong can paint chords in color to make 'em stand out. Synesthesia is what we nerds call color-codin' certain fonts based on their interval. Srsly.

Turnin' on the Rainbow Brain

Synesthesia only works when you're messin' with chord formatting & you access it through a rainbow-colored swatch at the end of the color picker (it's literally the prettiest button). Pick this swatch & watch your chords explode into different colors based on their interval relative to the root of the key. Your brain will totes thank you.

Swappin' Out the Color Palettes

Tap & hold on that rainbow swatch like your life depends on it to change which palette gets used for colorin' chords. Here's what you got:

• Off kills the color-coded chord thing. Borin'.
• Default uses a basic rainbow situation movin' from red through violet. Garden variety stuff.

Pickin' Your Tonic

People with synesthesia visualize certain colors when hearin' specific notes or pitches (we're jealous). Because of that, the tonic is locked down by default, meanin' each color gets assigned based on the root note of the chord. In this wild setup, a C chord is always red. You can flip how the tonic strategy assigns colors to chords tho:

Locked In

This is the default & keeps a specific color glued to the root note of the chord. Stable. Predictable. Kinda boring.

Wanderin'

This swaps the palette to assign the first color to the root of the key. Like, if you're playin' in the key of A, the "A" chord would normally show up bluish usin' the Default palette. But if the tonic is set to wanderin', that "A" renders in red since it's the root interval of the key. Weird flex but okay.
