Read The Bleepin’ Manual

The Boring Tech Stuff

The system information screen gives you the full 411 on your OnSong library, some random stats, & total control over those secondary screens you probably forgot were plugged in.

Yo, The App Itself

This section totally nerds out about OnSong including:

  • App Name is literally what they call this thing you're using right now.
  • App Version is the actual version number that the App Store thinks exists.
  • Operating System shows what kind of gadget you're running this on & which version of the OS is pretending to work.
  • Total Storage is how much hard drive space OnSong is bleepin' up.
  • User Interface defaults to whatever's latest & greatest. You can tap to bounce between OnSong® 2020, 2024, 2026 or whatever version number they dream up next.
  • Update Available button pops up if there's a shiny new version lurkin' in the App Store. Tap it & it'll yeet you straight to the App Store app so you can suffer through the update process.

Backup Shenanigans

If you restored some old backup file into your library (because you're paranoid like that), this shows you what it was called & when you dragged it back from the dead.

Your Collection of Collections

This section's got the stats on all your libraries that OnSong is busily managin'. The one you're usin' right now gets a lil' checkmark. Each row shows:

  • Name is what you called this library when you were feelin' creative.
  • Size is how much storage this particular library is hogging.

Collections Stats (The Boring Stuff)

This section counts up all your stuff in the current library, includin':

  • Artists is how many awesome peeps are in your OnSong library.
  • Books is how many books you're usin' to wrangle your songs.
  • Folders is how many folders you made to pretend you're organized.
  • Keys is how many key signatures your library's got rattlin' around.
  • Sets is the number of sets you've compiled (mostly for that one gig you did in 2019).
  • Topics is how many topics you tagged so you can maybe find stuff later.

Songs (The Goods)

This section shows you what songs you actually have, breakin' it down like:

  • Available shows how many songs are chillin' in your All Songs collection. Tap it to see 'em all & wonder why you're not usin' half of them.
  • Deleted shows songs you've marked for the digital graveyard. Tap to peek at 'em & hit undo if you panicked & changed your mind.
  • Loaned shows songs you handed off to your buddy (& probably won't get back). Tap to see which ones are MIA & preview the ones you're missin'.

Video (Screens & Such)

This section spills the tea on your main screen & whatever external screen you maybe have plugged in. Includes:

  • Main Screen tells you specs about your iOS device's display in all its native resolution & orientation glory. If there's a number in brackets after the resolution (like 768x1024 (2x)), that's the DPI showin' you've got a Retina-class iPad that's actually way more pixelly than it looks.
  • External Screen says if you've got a secondary screen hooked up or not. "Not Connected" = you're solo. A resolution number = you actually read the manual & plugged somethin' in.
  • Available Modes shows up when you've got a secondary screen. It lists all the resolutions that screen can handle. Tap to switch 'em around & pretend you know what you're doin'.

This section lists all the legal stuff like acknowledgements of third-party software & frameworks OnSong borrowed (or stole, we're not judges). Each one's got its own license & copyright drama. Tap any item to read the thrilling license agreement that'll put you straight to sleep.
