Sneak Your Tunes In via File Sharing

File sharing is basically how you move files on & off your device when you're bravely plugging it into a computer with that magical USB cable. If you're fancy enough to run a Mac with a newer macOS, boom—your iOS/iPadOS device shows up in Finder like it's supposed to. Windows users or Mac dinosaurs? Welcome to iTunes, your new BFF.

Tossin' Files On There

So you wanna add files? Step one: use iTunes File Sharing. Yeah, that app. On your Mac or PC. Riveting stuff.

Searchin' (Like a Pro... or Not)

Tap that search bar at the top & start typin' to find files & folders by name. Type stuff, watch the magic happen, or hit "Search" on your keyboard if you're feelin' fancy & wanna find files that contain your search term, not just start with it.

Pickin' & Choosin'

Tap files to check & uncheck 'em for import. Or just nuke the whole thing—there's Select All & Deselect All buttons at the bottom if you're feelin' lazy. HEADS UP: If you pick a backup file, OnSong's gonna be like Restore Library? because importing a backup is basically saying "yeah, obliterate all my songs, sets & settings lol." You confirm? Boom—only that backup comes in & your library gets restored from the ashes.

Importin'

Got files checked? Tap Import in the upper right & watch the fireworks. If you're tryna import somethin' you already imported, OnSong's gonna make you pick what to do with the duplicate file. When it's done, you bounce back to All Songs like nothin' happened.

Sortin'

Wanna make pickin' files less of a nightmare? Change the sort order! Tap the sort icon in the lower left & feast your eyes on these options:

• Name sorts files & folders alphabetically. Yawn.
• Size puts the chonky files at the top.
• Created throws recently-born files up top.
• Modified puts the files you messed with most recently on top.

Tap the up/down arrows at the bottom of the menu to flip the sort direction because apparently you need that choice.

Deletin'

Wanna nuke a file from iTunes File Sharing? Swipe right to left on it & a Delete button appears like magic. Press it & that file's gone forever. Party on.

Context Menu Shenanigans

Tap & hold (iOS/iPadOS) or right-click (macOS) on a file or folder to unlock the secret menu of awesomeness.

• Delete nukes the file or folder you picked.
• Rename lets you type a new name while keepin' the extension (you're welcome).
• Preview shows you what's actually in there before you import it like a champ.
• More… opens the activities menu where you can do other weird stuff with the file or folder.

Findin' Your Stuff

The files you import & export live in the Documents directory of the app. On iOS & iPadOS, plug your device into a computer with that USB cable & boom—instant access. On macOS, open Finder & your device shows up in the sidebar ready to party. If you're runnin' OnSong on a Mac, tap the icon in the lower right & watch it take you straight to the folder in Finder like a bloodhound.
