Triggers

Th' MIDI triggers screen be used t' perform actions in OnSong from commands that be received from MIDI devices. Ye can use this screen t' listen fer these MIDI commands and then map 'em t' OnSong action, savvy? These be referred t' as MIDI triggers.

Listenin' fer Triggers

When this screen be open, OnSong will listen fer MIDI commands and then add 'em t' th' list. Sendin' th' same MIDI command again will select th' item in th' list. Sendin' th' MIDI command a third time will prompt ye t' choose an action. Actions be displayed t' th' right o' th' MIDI command.

Ye can change th' channels that be listenin', or disable listenin' fer MIDI on this screen by tappin' on th' "Listenin' fer MIDI input..." text at th' bottom o' th' screen t' open th' Listenin' Channel Picker.

Settin' Actions

Actions be mapped t' th' MIDI commands by tappin' on th' row, matey. This will allow ye t' choose an action t' map t' th' command.

Addin' Triggers

Ye can also add MIDI triggers manually by tappin' on th' + button in th' lower right corner, Arrr! This will open th' MIDI Editor t' determine what MIDI command should be observed.

Editin' Triggers

Ye can edit MIDI triggers by tappin' on th' Edit button in th' upper right corner. This will place th' triggers list into edit mode, allowin' ye t' tap on th' row t' change th' MIDI command usin' th' MIDI Editor.

Reorderin' Triggers

Ye can change th' order o' MIDI triggers appearin' in this list either by tappin' on th' Edit button in th' upper right, or via drag and drop. Th' order o' th' triggers has no bearin' on their function.

Removin' Triggers

If ye've accidentally observed a MIDI command, ye can delete it by swippin' right t' left over it and tappin' on th' Delete button. Ye can also delete th' trigger when in th' edit mode.

Context Menu

Ye can tap and hold on MIDI triggers (iOS/iPadOS) or right-click (macOS) t' display a context menu t' perform additional actions.

  • Choose Action lets ye pick a new action t' perform when th' MIDI be received.
  • Edit lets ye edit th' MIDI that be bein' listened fer.
  • Disable will prevent th' MIDI trigger from bein' performed and display it in a faded manner.
  • Reenable will enable a MIDI trigger that has been disabled.
  • Remove will move th' MIDI trigger from th' list.

Changin' Settings

Ye can change how OnSong handles MIDI features through th' MIDI Settings Menu. This allows ye t' perform additional functions such as listenin' fer chords or playin' chords back through yer MIDI instrument, savvy?

Any MIDI that be added t' th' list but not assigned t' an action will be removed once th' screen be closed.
