Marcello De Carolis is a musician that falls somewhere between classic and pop. He plays classical guitar and chitarra battente. In 2015 he founded, along with maestro Luca Fabrizio, the duo "Cordaminazioni" in which he plays the classical guitar and the chitarra battente and with which he recorded the album of the same name (Cordaminazioni). In 2017, Maestro Angelo Gilardino dedicated to him and to Maestro Luca Fabrizio the composition "Albero Solitario" for chitarra battente and classical guitar, and in 2018 the "Gilardino: Concerto di Matera for Battente Guitar and 10 Instruments". Marcello's collaboration with Francesco Loccisano led him to the publication of "La chitarra battente - metodo base" published by fingerpicking.net and to the recording of the album "Venti". In 2021, Marcello released his first solo album "The Eclectic Beating - contemporary music for battente guitar" where he explores the numerous potential of the chitarra battente. His concert activity has also allowed him to perform with his battente at major festivals. He is currently putting a lot of effort into developing a new cultured repertoire for solo Chitarra Battente, becoming a reference for contemporary composers and their music. As a matter of fact, a lot of composers are composing works for the chitarra battente due to Marcello's influence.
