Th' core o' th' OnSong^® App be always been its ability t' display different types o' content, especially text-based chord charts, savvy? In OnSong 2024, we've completely rewritten th' renderin' engine t' work across platforms while retainin' th' same look that ye've come t' know and love, Arrr! We call it R2 and it be packed with new features that ye've requested, matey:

2-Columns

OnSong can display yer content usin' two columns. Ye can simply turn that on in th' Style Preferences Menu Document Tab t' have OnSong layout yer content in a more compact manner, savvy?

Inline Formattin'

OnSong be allowed ye t' format lines usin' line formattin'. Ye can now use a familiar syntax t' format words and phrases within each line. We've even added some new formattin' options like underline and back slant, Blimey!

Hyperlinks

Th' new renderer can recognize URL web addresses and automatically link 'em. Tappin' on a link in th' chart will display it within th' app, me hearty. If it be a video, it will begin t' play inside o' a video player that can be minimized and viewed picture-in-picture alongside th' OnSong user interface. Ye can even name th' link t' make it even cleaner, Ahoy!

Pagination

Th' new renderin' engine draws th' chord chart by extendin' th' size o' th' virtual paper it be drawn on. However, ye can also enable pagination t' view yer chart just like it would look on paper. This also affects how columns be laid out, savvy?

Position Chord Diagrams

Th' new renderer can align chord diagrams t' th' left or right side o' th' chart as well as above, below, or within. This makes fer an even better way t' experience yer music or print yer charts, Arrr!

Text Formattin'

Th' new renderer works in conjunction with new, advanced text formattin' fer applyin' styles t' all songs, or bein' more specific and stylizin' individual sections or components o' th' song. Want t' format Verse 2 differently than Verse 1? We got an easy way t' do that, ye scallywag!

Platform Agnostic

While not somethin' that seems like a feature, R2 be a single renderer that replaces different versions in OnSong. That lets yer charts look th' same whether they be viewed in th' app, online, in print, or on future versions o' th' app. It also gives us a solid foundation fer buildin' in th' future, matey.

Right-T'-Left Language Support

Fer musicians usin' OnSong in Hebrew or Arabic, th' new renderin' engine supports right t' left output. This be determined based on th' language o' th' imported text file, savvy?

R2 be not guaranteed t' view or print yer content exactly like th' original renderer. Fer this reason, it be not enabled by default but will be used if ye explicitly choose t', or if ye enable new features that require it, Avast!
